At the end of the 90’s, the German concern G-U (Gretch-Unitas, with a registered office in Stuttgart) started to implement a plan of radical modernisation of the information flow systems in all its enterprises and business establishments, both domestically and abroad. The planners responsible for the completion of the plan faced an almost impossible task. The G-U concern conducts its business activity in industry branches related to production of doors, windows, ferrules, keys and key systems.

The enterprises belonging to G-U are mainly plants with traditions built up over many years and stabilised structures. However, market conditions at this time of advancing globalisation change unusually fast. In order to accomplish the strategic objective of the concern, that is, to maintain and strengthen its leading position on the European market, it was necessary to take courageous, revolutionary steps. These were to bring the standardisation and thorough modernisation of principles of information exchange both at the level of an individual enterprise and at the level of the concern. Today, after a period of 3 years, the production management of all the economic units subjected to the concern is based on the up-to-date version of the SAP R3 system.
However, even such a versatile system is not capable of satisfying all the needs related to the flow and processing of the data in a modern enterprise. The obsolete order management system of the SABSY key systems used at the BKS company may be an example of this. A highly complex process of technical processing of such orders, as well as the need for migration of a great quantity of previously collected data required a special solution.
Macrix Software GmbH took up the task of the implementation of the new SABSY 1.1 system, whereby, in the final decisive phase of the project, a significant part of the works was performed by Macrix Polska Sp. z o.o.. As a result of two years of work, a system which not only satisfied the needs of the enterprise optimally in a given regard, but also created new prospects and made new techniques of work in the tele-workposts, internet sale and product configuration mode available, was produced. Owing to special preparations, and a highly reliable software, it was possible to implement the new system without losses in production within just two days. Already after a month, the enterprise achieved the former production capacity.
The SABSY 1.1 system, designed in the COM + Application Server technique, with the use of the Oracle database, ensures unrivalled speed of access for at least 100 highly efficient workposts. The average time of processing of an inquiry for data does not exceed 200 ms at result sets with 500 million verses.
Within the framework of the SABSY-Internet project, the system is made available to a network of about 4500 trade enterprises of the G-U concern on the territory of Europe and in the United States. Macrix Polska Sp. z o.o. still actively participates in the expansion of the system.
